I give you now Professor Twist,
A conscientious scientist,
Trustees exclaimed, “He never bungles!”
And sent him off to distant jungles.
Camped on a tropic riverside,
One day he missed his loving bride.
She had, the guide informed him later,
Been eaten by an alligator.
Professor Twist could not but smile.
“You mean,” he said, “a crocodile.”

  1. hey Cat, only discovered Nash this week. Never have had heard from this man before. I have read so many really funny poems by him, there is bound to be more where this is coming from.
    i'm glad you like it,

  2. I finally thought to know someone Cat didn't, I should have known better. Ogden Nash is one of my favourites now, Can't help it. Just got to laugh at almost everything he wrote…
